Not sure about the best way to donate?

We have had a few questions about donations, including the following:

Q: How can I donate money to the current renovation effort?

A: There are two places you can donate to support Project COVID Opportunity:

  1. From Omicron’s perspective, the best way to donate is directly to our Building Fund. While these contributions are not tax-deductible, 100% go toward the effort and they are highly flexible in their use for renovations. Click here to donate to the Building Fund.

  2. The other approach is donating to MIT’s IRDF. As you can read about here, your tax-deductible donation to the IRDF makes 90% of those funds potentially available to Phi Sig, and you also receive recognition for donating to MIT (just as you would if you donated to another MIT cause).

Q: Are there ways to support the effort in addition to a monetary donation?

A: Absolutely! We are always seeking volunteers / advocates / supporters, even if you are limited in the amount of time you can provide. Please email us at phisigengagement@googlegroups.com.

Q: I would prefer making a donation over a period of time in lieu of a single, large donation. Is this feasible?

A: It certainly will be soon. We are in the process of enabling credit card / PayPal processing on our giving page, which will include recurring gift options.

If you are able to make a multi-year commitment to either the Building Fund or the IRDF, please let us know your intention regarding how many years and the total commitment to help guide our fundraising efforts. If you are making a multi-year commitment to the IRDF, keep in mind there is a five-year window for Phi Sig to apply to use those funds. Specific to aiding Project COVID Opportunity, ideally your IRDF commitment would be fully paid by June 2022.

Q: How would I go about leaving something for Phi Sig as part of my estate planning?

A: We have written a blog post about the topic here.

….

Lastly, on behalf of the brotherhood, thank you for donating to the continued success of Phi Sig Omicron!
